L.I.F.E. Ministries is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization based in North Carolina, dedicated to helping individuals break free from the chains of addiction through the transformative power of Christ. L.I.F.E. Ministries offers a biblically-based approach to addiction recovery, providing hope, healing, and a path to true freedom.

OUR MISSION

Our mission is to help individuals overcome addiction and experience a life of freedom and abundance through a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. We believe that true recovery is possible when we align our lives with God's purpose and live according to His word.

FOUNDER & EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR

PASTOR MICHAEL DIXON

MDIV/CO, LCAS-A

Pastor Dixon is the founder and executive director of L.I.F.E. Ministries. Through his personal experience and deep understanding of the scriptures, he teaches how to overcome addictions by relying on the power of God. Pastor Dixon has 32 years of experience as a Senior Pastor, wrote “Casting Down Idols Through the Power of the Gospel” and the L.I.F.E. Curriculum, as well as hosts the “Casting Down Idols” podcast, available wherever you listen to podcasts.

Pastor Dixon is married to Melissa and is based out of Winterville, NC. He and his wife have three daughters.

  • Scott & Michelle House

    EDGECOMBE COUNTY DIRECTORS

    Scott and Michelle House have been a part of LIFE Ministries since it began in 2017. They both serve on the Board of Directors for LIFE. In 2019 they became members of the LIFE leadership team in Edgecombe County. Then in 2020 Scott and Michelle assumed the director's position for the Edgecombe County Chapter(Oakdale Baptist Church). Michelle is a peer support specialist.

  • Justin Hipsky

    EDGECOMBE COUNTY LEADERSHIP

    Justin is originally from Willimantic, Connecticut, where he became involved in drugs, alcohol, and gang life. His story of recovery can be heard here: Justin Hipsky’s Testimony

    ​Justin has been an active part of the leadership team since LIFE's beginning in March, 2017. He is in leadership in the Edgecombe County chapter as well as on the Board of Directors.

  • Tim & Maranda Horst

    NASH COUNTY LEADERSHIP

    Tim and Maranda have two beautiful children, Isaiah and Teagan, and are leaders in the Nash County chapter. Their heart's desire is to minister to hurting people through the perfect counsel of God's Word.

  • Perry & Billie Jo Turner

    CRAVEN COUNTY DIRECTORS

    Perry and Billie Jo are both originally from beautiful New Bern, where they continue to live, working in their small electrical business, and serving in their church at Crossroads Baptist Church. They were married in 2021, have 3 beautiful children, 2 of which live here and 1 which is thriving in Heaven. When asked why they are involved in this addiction recovery ministry Billie Jo responded, "Immediately following a visit by Executive Director Mike Dixon to our church to share about LIFE Ministries, Perry and I began praying. We felt the Lord placing this upon our hearts to begin a LIFE Chapter here in Craven County. We are convinced that God will use this ministry to save many people in Craven County and in the surrounding areas. Please stop by one of our meetings at Crossroads Baptist Church, Monday nights at 6:30. We would love to meet you!

  • Glenn & Renee Howell

    BOARD OF DIRECTORS

    The Howells have served with LIFE since it began in Edgecombe County. Pastor Glenn serves on the Board of Directors for LIFE Ministries as well as Pastor of Oak Grove Baptist Church, Wake Forest, N.C.

  • Joe Barta IV

    MULTIMEDIA CONSULTANT

    Joe joined LIFE Ministries in 2024 as our Multimedia Consultant. Joe has several years of experience in videography and is currently employed as a Multimedia Specialist at ECU Health Medical Center, located in Greenville, N.C. Joe has a passion to use his gifts and abilities to help others. He has discovered that LIFE Ministries is a wonderful nonprofit to help him do just that!
